Reuben Shija (B.A. in Theology, Bugema Adventist) is executive secretary of Nyanza Gold Belt Field. In the past, he served as Personal Ministries and Publishing director and a district pastor in Tanzania. He is married to Deborah Shija, and they are blessed with five children.

Nyanza Gold Belt Field is a part of Northern Tanzania Union Conference in the East-Central Africa Division of Severnth-day Adventists. Formerly part of South Nyanza Conference, Nyanza Gold Belt Field was organized in 2020 with headquarters in Kahama, Shinyanga, Tanzania.

Territory: Geita, and Shinyanga regions, and the districts of Sengerema and Buchosa in Mwanza Region.

Statistics (June 30, 2021): Churches, 452; membership, 124,435; population, 5,148,5751

To accommodate the growing membership of South Nyanza Conference, Northern Tanzania Union Conference Executive Committee voted during its meeting on January 3, 2019, at Njiro Hill, Arusha, to reorganize South Nyanza Conference. Thus, Nyanza Gold Belt Field was organized and inaugurated on February 20, 2020.2

Nyanza Gold Belt Field comprises 50 church districts that spread among the many tribes, including the Sukuma, Zinza, Sumbwa, Longo, and many others. The work is managed by 64 church workers.3

Nyanza Gold Belt Field runs two secondary schools: Shinyanga Adventist Pre and Primary School and Nkome Adventist Secondary School. It also runs two health centers: Kasamwa Dispensary and Magogo Health Centre, both in Geita Region. It also runs the Nh’elegan Farm Project in Shinyanga.
